The Writing Workshop offers creative writing workshops for young people aged 6–15, face-to-face at Sydney Olympic Park (Field Studies Tower in the Education Centre, Bicentennial Park).

Write Your Own Book is our most popular holiday workshop - fabulously fun and inventive, and full of skill-building, mind-stretching creative writing activities. It’s a terrific workshop for ambitious young writers, and for those looking to broaden their creative writing repertoire.
The workshop gives young people all the skills and inspiration needed to write your own book. You will develop atmospheric settings, create memorable characters and invent gripping plots, challenges and twists. The workshop includes several different writing forms, and every activity gives full rein for creativity and invention.
Bring lunch, drink, hat and brains to this full-day creative writing workshop for 8-13 year-olds.
Write Your Own Book is offered every holidays face-to-face at Sydney Olympic Park, and can also be adapted for other settings including school incursions.
The Writing Workshop takes COVID-19 seriously and will always prioritise the safety of participants, staff and our community. We are registered with the NSW government as a COVID-Safe business and follow NSW Health rules and venue (Sydney Olympic Park Authority) requirements.
100,000 participants, thousands of workshops, focused on each child
The Writing Workshop began operating in 2006. Since then we've inspired over 100,000 participants – from five years old to school-leavers – and read over half a million pieces of imaginative writing. Surely this is a record!
We want each child to develop skills in and enjoyment of writing. We aim to make it fun.
